It was a moonlit night

I am really sick of leaving the house at 8 in the evening to go to meetings at the newspaper that are scheduled for 9. It is absurd. Just because someone wants to juggle 3 jobs at once, I have to freeze to death instead of reading stories to my son, or making cds and generally having a splendid time.
Does anything come of these late night meetings? No. We go there, sit round the big table, they have coffee, when it really is Southern Comfort time, somebody tells a silly joke, that gets everyone started on silly jokes. An hour passes until everybody is there and another hour until we discuss the newspaper. When the meeting is over, some people look happy that have met some other people, but I am not one of them. And no kiosk nearby to buy some comforting chocolate or Vogue.
Also, there’s a fashion problem concerning these late night meetings. What should you wear? It’s work so it’s obvious you can’t go in sequined skirts (not that I have any) but it’s evening too. And freakily freezing. So, should I wear
a. a tartan blanket
b. a romantic Laura Ashley duvet
c. pyjamas and fluffy slippers with 3 pairs of socks.

So you are off...I agree; crazy. Canadians would never function like that, but then again we're a bore, so no one should set their standards by what we do.

What to wear; if it's so cold, do you need to take your coat off? If not, then you could wear your pajamas underneath your coat (probably not).
So, what about some nice wool pants and a big warm turtleneck sweater?...and leave a few minutes early and pick up the chocolate and magazines beforehand and then you'll have them for the way home.
    Good Luck. xoxo

    8 o'clock? I'm sooo sick of those F***G kick-off (or not)project team meetings. They're just posers...everybody.

I would be upset for sure. I like to be in the house and in my jammies by 9:30pm on a weeknight. Silly people...I would wear definitely something cozy and warm and stuff my pockets with treats.

    Hugs, Connie

b with the fluffy slippers from c. It's too bad you can't teleconference in for these things.

It may be work but it's almost late night - so first priority is comfort, followed by style. During the day style leads, after seven pm comfort leads ... for meetings at work that is ...

lol I love it when you're funny :)
If I were you I'd go for those slippers and a bathrobe. The Laura Ashley duvet is what killed me!
You need to find transition clothes - especially for not-day-anymore late meetings.
But really those are really stupid hours to have meetings - perhaps you should get there late so you wouldn't have to put up with that boredom.

A tartan blanket.. but that's the Scots in me talking. If you went in the pajamas, they might get the message and get a move on with the silly meeting.

    Something made of wool.
    Or something made of cashmere!
And then a little Bailey's Irish Creme in your coffee.

you know i went there full of spite and gloom and they had coffee made for us and chocolate and even some vodka. I wore exactly what you said but wool skirt instead of pants.

not really. they have 3 different jobs each and that's when they find the time. The problem of course is, i don't!

i thought i'd go there in one of those Academy Awards gowns, with diamonds and my tiara to show them this is a time to go out and have fun, not go to meetings. But then i settled for Cathy's recommendation.

oh yes. that would be great "excuse me for a minute boss, i have a blogfriend on MSN."
    Instant gratification. :)

i was thinking about combining the two trends. So, i presume you don't think pyjamas and stilletos are a good idea.

Ah, I would wear my faded jean
skirt and long thin tee with
    a pullover hoodie and black
    sneakers...and I would wear lots
    of silver bangles and rattle
    them loudly anytime anyone said
    something I didn't like.

Have a nice evening, I'm off

All of the above, of course. If they serve vodka at office meetings I don't think they'd care much. ^_-
