"You know..," No, I don't know please try and explain whatever it is your talking about.
I hate the "it's all good" one too.
In australian society (particularly on the mine) I am always annoyed by everyone calling each other mate. It usually means absolutely nothing, and it seems to me like a fake friendly word. Not at all implying real friendship. Sometimes the tone of voice implies that the person they are referring to as mate is obviously (there I go) not their mate at all. Geezer refers to me as mate sometimes and it drives me up the wall. I'm not his "mate." I'm his lover etc... mate is like a demotion.
"Don't get me started" is annoying as well, though I'm prone to say it every now and then.
Ok it looks like I harbour a lot of annoyedness....
Sometimes people really get on my nerves, it doesn't matter what they say! But when they use a certain amount of those clichés...it's even worse!
I can't possible watch another american on television STARTING sentences with "like"...or "I was like, yeah!"...
The correspondent in England "sort of" isn't so annoying because it sounds classier...but after a while, it gets annoying too!
And in Portugal they use that too, I don't know where they got it from, it's such a useless word, it means absolutely nothing, except that you're a slob that can't articulate! GRRRRR But even I fall for it sometimes!!
Such a useless and irritating word!
I really hate it when people say "fair enough" - it may be one of the most annoying things uttered in history. I almost beat up one of my sister's Canadian friends because the woman (already annoying) says it after practically every sentence.
"Fair enough" - what the hell does that mean, anyway? When is something fair enough, exactly?
My sister's British friends say it too, grrr.
To slam on my own culture, I very much dislike the use of "it's all good" and "where's the love?" - GRRR.
Gross.
Also, to throw someone under the bus. My boss ... I don't think she gets what this even means and she uses it a zillion times a day.
Sayings don't so much bother me as irgnorance. I am more perturbed by what people do than what they say.
But there are a few on your list that annoy me as well!
xo
(P.S. I sent a message to you today from facebook).
thanks for the grin, girly xx
drives me batty
i love God, love being a Christian, but i can think of lots of "christian-ese" that i dispise.... like....
"I will pray about that" as an excuse to NOT do something...
i am sure there are lots more.
I'm not sure if it ticks me off or not but I just used the expression "that's easier said than done." A lot of things are but that doesn't mean they're difficult. It's just easy for most of us to speak.
ANY holiday greeting.
Any over used expression becomes annoying. My sister has one that's teetering on the edge for me: ".... dot com.", as in "end of conversation dot com." or "I need a haircut.dot com."
A lot of the black slang annoys me. " I ax'ing" instead of "I'm asking", particularly when used by people who aren't black. It is a wanna-be, trying to be what I'm not attitude.
Hmmmm... utilize. "I will utilize a knife and fork." I see. You just can't use the knife and fork?
What really annoys me is 'seen'. Not when it is used properly, as in "I have seen" but "I seen". No, acutally, you SAW.
I'll try to remember this when I ever meet you :)
Thanks for the great post.
....
:)
It's funny because she says it even when it doesn't make any sence.
It's finally the weekend. I'm so ready to do a great deal of nothing around the house!
*CHEERS*
Ugh, BARF!
Great list, Chloe !!
Hope all is well.
Take care, Meow
